I know you haven’t heard from me since February but I was never gone 🙂 2018 was an eventful year for me. My girlfriend and I went separate ways and life had to go on. Don’t worry, both Luisa and I are doing fine. If you want to know more about how that impacted me and what my personal life looked like in 2018, I invite you to read my blog post by clicking the link below.
2018 Review
As for my consulting business I have to say that things went very well. I am blessed with purposeful and wonderful customers. Here are some of the professional highlights.
Windmill Wellness Ranch
It’s hard to describe what Shannon Malish and her team have achieved in so little time. During all my years of fighting addiction as a law enforcement officer, I had only seen two individuals go and stay in recovery. I just come back from the ranch’s Christmas party where Shannon announced that more than half of their patients stay in recovery after the treatment at their facility. It’s really an amazing place where all the employees put their heart into their work. Just watch this video and you will understand!
Direct Med Clinic
Dr. Roger Moczygemba and I met because it was meant to happen. I saw the Dr. about a year ago at a networking mixer here in San Antonio. He was speaking about a concept in medicine called Direct Primary Care (DPC) which is essentially the idea of buying a membership to a clinic, whereby health insurance companies can be taken out of the health care business. In many cases, this has numerous benefits as one can increase accessibility and affordability to quality health care. Can you imagine only paying $10 each time you see your dedicated doctor? No? Well, all it takes is a monthly $50 membership (individuals). Corporate plans are available as well. You don’t even have to be located in San Antonio as Direct Med Clinic uses advanced telemedicine to serve customers all across Texas and even the US. Check out their website here: https://directmedclinic.com. Fun fact is that the doctor and I first spoke in Salt Lake City at the airport while I had a layover on my way to Seattle (to meet with Sarah who was working on a project for Amazon!). I was so fascinated by the DPC model that I decided to strike up a conversation with Dr. Moczygemba. Little did we know that we’d be collarborating on opening a clinic in San Antonio, soon. But some things are just meant to happen.
Kayco Spray Booths
Chuck and Carol Koenen lovingly run this spray booth manufacturing company in a rather rural city called La Vernia. But don’t let this location fool you into thinking that they just build small, conventional spray booths. They actually ship their booths worldwide and serve renowned companies such as Sikorsky Support Services. Sarah Kowalis, my rock-star designer, created a very esthetically looking website design for an industry that you might perceive as boring and dusty. I invite you to check out their beautiful website at https://kaycospraybooths.com. Do take a look at the case studies and check out the Sikorsky project.
Friends of Prentice – Partner of Northwestern Memorial Foundation
Yes, a little guy like me can work on a project that is linked to a medical giant such as the Northwestern Memorial Foundation – BUT ONLY if he knows such a brilliant, well-connected designer such as Sarah Kowalis.
Friends of Prentice works in partnership with Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital to advance the quality of women’s healthcare by investing in emerging technologies and medical advancements. The website is an essential part of their fundraising strategies that have allowed them to raise over $20 million so far. The website can be admired at https://friendsofprentice.org/. I also highly recommend watching the video on the homepage. Here is a direct link.
